8 Week Youth Climate Program in India, Feb 3 - Mar 31, 2019

We are excited to announce a brand new opportunity for young people (18+ years old) on a gap year or taking a break from college, who have a particular interest in engaging with climate issues. For the last 6 months, the Global Climate Corps has been collaborating with FOCUS Climate Gap Year on the design of our first program this coming Spring in India.

FOCUS is a new organization in the gap year space, with a bold mission of helping young people gain the self awareness, relationships and global perspective needed to commit their academic and professional paths to tackling climate change. Their co-founders Ethan Knight and Garett Brennan have more than 30 years of combined experience in the climate change and gap year fields and we have joined forces with them to offer the gap year movement a truly unique program!

The Spring 2019 India Program will take place Feb 3 – March 31st. Students will spend the bulk of their time in the Auroville region in Southeastern India learning about community based resilience and sustainable energy innovations before heading north to New Delhi to work with leading NGOs on a variety of adaptation and mitigation projects, and then finish the program with a trek into the Garhwal Himalayas to learn first hand about the impacts of climate change and conservation efforts in the region.

If you are a young person between the ages of 18-22 (as of 2/3/19) and interested in living abroad, learning more about climate change, renewable energy and the different career paths outside of traditional activism, we encourage you to apply here as soon as possible. This program only has a couple slots left for the Spring 2019 program in India. Students will also be able to earn college credit for the program and access financial aid through FAFSA and FOCUS’s own scholarship fund.

If you are little older and outside the participant age range, but know of an awesome young person that might be interested in this kind of transformative international experience, we highly encourage you to nominate that young leader.
